Toys Go Out

Page history last edited by Catherine Trinkle 14 years, 10 months ago

Our second One School/One Book is another winner.  To follow up on the popularity of Gooseberry Park, we have chosen a book not starring animals, but starring toys:  plastic toys and plush toys all loved by one little girl.  They are friends and have adventures while the little girl is sleeping or at school.  Toys Go Out by Emily Jenkins is a wonderful book to teach perspective as we learn what it is like to be a round plastic ball with no hands or a washing machine stuck in a basement with only a grumpy dryer for company.

Here is a terrific ten-page lesson on Toys Go Out!  It has a Summary, About the Author, Book Review, Discussion Questions, Author Interview, and books for Further Readng.  While we're at it, the Wake County, North Carolina Public Libraries has 50 incredible lesson plans for books grades 3 and up!!  Click here.
